The Ten Commandments - The Super Law of God - Commandment 8 - Family Devotional
Updated: Jul 13, 2019
Welcome to the Children's Christian Learning Family Devotional! We are on a 10 part journey to learn about The Ten Commandments - The Super Law of God.
God gave us the Ten Commandments to show us how we should live. No matter how hard we try, we all break God's Commandments (Romans 3:23).
Yes! even Super heroes break God's Super Law.
Let's look at the Eighth Commandment........
“You shall not steal” (Exodus 20:15). Do not take anything that is not yours.
The Eighth Commandment protects personal property and teaches us to respect the property of others. In the Bible, there are over 50 verses warning people not to steal. If I open your wallet or bag and take something from it, I’m a thief. The Bible says that thieves will not enter the kingdom of God. What would be worth stealing for the loss of your eternal soul? Jesus asked, “What is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26).
Have you ever wanted more and more of something? The answer for always wanting more and more stuff is? Giving! The Eighth Commandment gives us two choices to make during our lives; getting versus giving. Paul the New Testament writer explained “Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labour, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need” (Ephesians 4:28). Give something away to someone, you’re sure to remember the joy on their face when you give them a special gift. Jesus said "It’s better to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).
Remember stealing doesn't just mean taking something that doesn't belong to you. It includes wasting time at work, stealing supplies and taking without asking. As a Christian we should not steal someone's good name by slandering them.

The Super Law of God, Is Just Like A Mirror?
The Ten Commandments - The Super Law of God is just like a mirror. A mirror to our hearts. It helps us see the bad things we have done. The Super Law of God shows us how we need to be washed clean before we meet God, on the day of judgement.
Paul says in Romans 7:7, “I had not known sin but by the Law.”
