Let's look at the Fourth Commandment........

“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shall you labour, and do all your work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you shall not do any work…For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it” (Exodus 20:8–11).

The Fourth Commandment tells us to honour God by resting on the seventh day of the week which is called the Sabbath day. The Hebrew word for Sabbath, Shabbat, means “to rest or cease work.” On the Sabbath we are to take the day off from our regular work and devote our time and attention to God. Why have we been commanded to do this? (Genesis 2:1-3).

Jesus kept the Sabbath day to fulfil the whole Super Law of God (Luke 4:16). The Bible makes it very clear that the law was fulfilled in Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:17). Jesus was to be a perfect sacrifice for the Sin of the world (1John2:2), (1John3:5), (2Corinthians5:21).

A Christian's Salvation does not depend on observing a certain day of the week, we are told not to let others judge us regarding Sabbaths (Colossians 2:16), and that man was not made for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath for man (Mark 2:27). Jesus saved us from the curse of the Law so we are no longer in bondage to it. If we try to keep one part of the Law (even out of love for God), we are obligated to keep the whole Law (Galatians 3:10). We are not to judge each other regarding the day on which we worship God (Romans 14:5). Live in freedom from the law by placing your faith in Jesus.

"One person thinks that one day is more important than another. And someone else thinks that every day is the same. Each one should be sure in his own mind".
